About the event
Funded by the American Parkinson Disease Association and presented by members of the UAB Comprehensive Center for Movement Disorders, this afternoon is dedicated to educating and connecting those newly diagnosed with Parkinson's to their local resources. You will be provided an overview of Parkinson's, including the science, pathology and road to diagnosis as well as a symptom overview and treatment options. We will then go over how to build your health care team, connecting you to local Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapists. Finally, we will review the local resources available to you and provide tips for living well with PD. Each participant will be provided with a Parkinson's Good Start binder filled with resources. Care Partners and family members are encouraged to attend as well. This event is FREE.
